The Texas Payday Law states that wages may be withheld only when the employer is authorized to do so by law, required to do so by a court, or has written authorization from the employee for the deduction. In addition, under Texas Family Code §158.214 and §158.215, an employer who has received an income withholding order is required to withhold certain types of pay. These types of pay are in an amount equal to the amount the employer would have withheld under the order for income withholding.
