Most of our budget is funded through federal sources. We provide grants based on allocation formulas. These grants go to workforce development boards that plan and administer programs such as Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Employment and Training. Grants are also distributed to employment services, child care services, and workforce and support services.
Employer-paid state unemployment taxes and reimbursements pay for state unemployment benefits. The U.S. Department of Labor allocates funds from the Federal Unemployment Tax Act to the states to pay for administrative and operational costs.
